Wing with Adjustable Flap

This is another STEVS evolution of the 16v style wing form, with the integration of a motorsports-inspired adjustable flap. This wing combination is made entirely from carbon fiber, and is engineered from the ground up. This wing/flap combination is also compatible with the STEVS wing risers. 

Note: This wing and flap are sold together. The flap cannot by used with other wings.

Design notes

This wing/flap combination is designed to offer two distinct aesthetics. The first is the “home” position where the flap sits flush with the bottom surface of the wing, while the trailing edge peeks out from the back of the wing displaying a subtle and sleek appearance.

Next is that ‘performance’ position where the angle of the flap is increased and extended. In this mounting method there is ~30mm of flap extension adjustment. These two mounting methods provide a wide range of customization of aesthetics and performance.  

The flap is the epitome of ‘form and function’. 

The engineering functionality of the system is found in the interface between the top side of the flap and the cavity of the wing it sits in. With custom spacers the flap can be mounted in the ‘home’ position for an OEM+ look, and by removing the spacers and remounting the flap to the angled surface, the flap is now in the "performance" position which allows for extension adjustment simply by loosening the fasteners and sliding it to desired position.

The form aspect of the design comes form the carryover of the original 16v wing design language to the flap itself. When mounted in the ‘home’ position, the gentle sweeping curves, and subtle edges flow seamlessly between the wing and the flap. This is a piece that truly looks like it was designed in a parallel 80’s universe that had more time and a higher budget for a very special edition W201.

Surface finish information

The suggested surface finish is wing in primer (for color match base coat paint) and the flap in clear coated carbon fiber (gloss or matte). If you are looking for the wing in clear coated carbon fiber as well, please get in touch info@stevs.ca

NOTE: If mounting the version without middle pillars to a trunk lid that has previously had the OEM 16v wing installed, the center pillar trunk holes will need to be filled.
