What's carbon fiber?

Carbon fiber is used in some of the most demanding applications on and off earth. From motorsports to aviation and space exploration, carbon fiber plays an integral role in all these places.

Let's talk about carbon fiber's strength

A single filament of carbon fiber is much stronger than aluminum and steel and it's much lighter too. When woven into a fabric and combined with an epoxy resin, the resulting composite is strong, stiff but lightweight. The ability to customize the weave-type and layup schedule of a carbon fiber component, lets engineers and carbon experts like me add extra strength and rigidity where needed most.

When combined with a high-performance epoxy resin carbon fiber can be formed into virtually any shape, with the benefit of having control over material layup to add extra rigidity or flexibility to areas of a component where necessary.

Carbon fiber in the car world

Todays most renowned and lucrative supercars are made with carbon fiber. The ability to create extremely complex shapes with incredible strength and low weight, makes carbon fiber the best choice of material. Because of its characteristics and intricate processing steps, carbon fiber components for super cars are mostly handmade. A large amount of precision and skill is required to correctly layup and process a carbon fiber component. When done correctly, the carbon fiber component will not only be superior in strength and weight to other materials, but also its aesthetic appeal. The holographic look of its black weave is truly mesmerizing and is one of the most recognizable attributes of this amazing material.
